Cloud Horses offer exotic coloring in addition to the other
benefits of this most excellent Breed. The coloring of a our horses changes
over the first 6 Years of their lives. Click to see a progression of coat
and color in one of our prized horses, "Irish Rose". This color is called
a varnish roan. Click on the photo below to see the change.

Cloud Horses breeds for color as well as other important characteristics. "Ghost
Wind" is the color producer. He is a rare "Ghost" stallion, and so contributes
the Lp gene that makes for the dynamic coloring in Cloud Horses'
breeding program. The Lp gene or Leopard Complex coat is unique, each horse
has its own distinctive markings. Reffered to as leopard, spotts, blanket,
roan, varnish roan, mottled, frost, snowflake, speckled, and ghost.

The dark stallion "Step Ahead" provides the dark pigment required in our stock to protect the horses from sunburn, and or eyesight damage that may occur with too much pink skin, in the exposed areas. (such as the eyes and nose) He is very strongly gaited as well.
